Wilco Drummer to Headline Day of Percussion February 22, 2003

With extensive international touring experience, television appearances on Late Night with David Letterman, Late Show with Conan O'Brien, and CNN, percussionist Glenn Kotche will present a contemporary drum set workshop as part of the Kentucky Day of Percussion held on Saturday, February 22 in the Singletary Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The Kentucky Chapter of PAS and the UK School of Music sponsors the Day of Percussion. Kotche is a member is Wilco, whose recent release Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is one of the most critically acclaimed records of 2002, selling over half a million copies worldwide in the first 9 months. The 31-year old native Chicagoan has come into prominence as one of the leading high demand percussionists on today's musical horizon as both a stabilizing rhythmic force and a sound explorer with a sense of wide-eyed adventurousness and creative zeal.

The Tennessee based percussion group Caixa Percussion Trio

will present a session on accessory percussion fundamentals that will be geared for middle school and high school students as well as music teachers. Caixa will also present a concert that includes classical, contemporary, world and rudimental percussion.
